reminding the gap

thanks to facebook i found a classmate of mine who went to london a couple of years ago. and finally, after thinking over it another year i made my warning come true and went there as well, just to give her a visit. it was a kind of an auto-invitation of myself, but she actually never refused!
so i booked the flight to stansted, put some grappa and speck into my suitcase and drove to the airport.
i haven’t seen my former classmate for years, but the girl that picked me up at liverpool street station hasn’t virtually changed by anything – despite her ability to speak english fluently in a way i always have been dreaming of. after some glasses of lebanese red wine in the westfield centre we went to the house she’s sharing with her flatmates [ coming from all over the world; oh, and italy as well
] and last, but not least: shiva, the jealous cat who put a welcome message on my pillow the second day.
four days are way to short to realize where you are – especially when in london. so my introduction to this city was only a teaser – but enough to infect me. i was expecting having good time there which i did definitely not – i had actually the best time since the invention of the wheel. we even made speckknödel (with raw material from uk – despite the original south tyrolean speck i brought) during a so-called “international cookery convention” with yummy banitza and delicate anelletti al forno. i took hundrets of pictures, some are shown in the gallery linked below.
leaving brought me close to tears and during the flight back to verona i took the decision to come back to london as soon as possible. i have been hooked on this metropolis and on the people i used to live with (i know, i was there only very short time, but i definitely w a s living) very badly – maybe as bad as someone else is hooked on a certain gem swapping game!
thank you for supporting me!
